So while it’s certainly possible for a CPU cooler to break a motherboard it’s not necessarily something that’s likely to happen.

Additionally most water cooling systems use low-pressure pumps that are not capable of generating enough force to cause serious damage even if a leak were to occur.

However water cooling systems are not perfect and there is always a risk of leaks.

If a leak does occur and goes undetected for an extended period of time it could potentially damage the motherboard (or other components) beyond repair.

Additionally even a very small leak can be enough to short out sensitive electronic components and cause irreparable damage.

As such it is always important to regularly check for leaks in your water cooling system and to immediately shut down the system and investigate any suspected leaks.

Can NH-D15 Break Motherboard?
